I recently moved to Mesa and am studying for the GRE. I'm need a space that has some noise but not too much -- a coffee shop has been perfect for me in the past. What is a good coffee shop to study at in the east valley?

And you can't study at home with music or something on the radio because?.... Any public library fits your description, too. There's "some noise" even there. Seriously, there are lots of coffee joints, most of which would be fine so long as they don't object to your taking up space there for hours.

Borders Book stores have an area “Seattle’s Best” set aside for coffee drinkers who want to use the free wifi and check over books as well. Check your area for a Borders Book store, usually near a mall area you’ll find them.

Why do you find it necessary to study in public?

Check out The Coffee Shop in Agritopia off Ray Road. There is a section near the back which has soft chairs and a sofa.
