I have been talking with a realtor broke for some time now about moving to an area outside of Pheonix for some time now. I want to find out if he/she is a real, licensed real estate broker. How can I find out for sure?

The reason I ask because at this point, moving forward, before I go any further I want to be sure I am doing business with a legitimate person before flying down and meeting with them.

Thank you,

Ryan

You can check with their local department of real estate. They should have their license on file. In Arizona you would check Arizona Department of Real Estate Database Record.

Have you tried just looking up their professional affiliation? Such as ReMax, Century 21 etc.? Or if they are independent they should have their own website. Having a major brokerage behind them adds peace of mind for you as they represent their larger brand name and are responsible to that.

You can also verify their education and check for any complaints against them at this site.
