Keep in mind that we can continue to do our part to reduce the need for tighter and tighter controls on the Phoenix area's worsening air quality picture. If we all chip in, we can make a difference.

Something I usually think about, it car and van pools. For those who still have jobs, it is something which can reduce pollutants and it makes economic sense. Having to drive everywhere can get expensive and it is environmentally friendly too! It's a good way to try to cut back the brown cloud.

As has been pointed out to you already, the article has nothing to do with the Phoenix metro area or "the government taking over Arizona" (or "a complete takeover at the state level" as EnicAZ has said). It deals with greenhouse gases in rural areas. From the article: "In Arizona, the federal permits will apply in mostly rural areas. Maricopa and Pima counties worked out their own agreements with the EPA, and Pinal County will accept a separate federal permit plan."

Hello Rubee,

People are free to read the articles and come to their own conclusion about what is going on. Trying to suffocate anything negative about Phoenix is probably not a long term solution to our problems. I am simply trying to encourage people to continue with efforts to reduce the growing problem by bringing awareness to this. Continued improvements can be made.

Here is some information from the American Lung Association of Arizona:

Trends and fact sheets can be found at the bottom.

The thread title is factually incorrect, and the article cited does not support your premise. There's nothing at all in that article which says the EPA is "taking over Arizona's air quality problems." Feel free to contribute to this forum with accurate information. This thread is now closed.
