I did late left turn on "yellow light" with speed under 30mph and I saw camera flashes
Im just wondering if there could be a chance to ignore the ticket or to win if I chose to fight it in court as it was yellow light!? it was less then 3 sec yellow!

how much the ticket gonna be!?

Thanks for your advice !

They always review the video that's taken at the time of the camera shot. If you were already in the intersection prior to the red light signal, then there will be no ticket.

I was in the intersection when the light turned yellow and sped up to get through and the darn thing flashed me. This was on AZ avenue and Elliot.

What traffic school taught me is to be in the middle of the intersection when attempting to turn left. Do NOT speed up to make a left turn on a yellow light. Once in the middle it's safe to turn on yellow and you won't get dinged.

yea, I found that out the hard way, but I was approaching the intersection at 6 am (on my way to work) and was going about 35-40 mph (speed limit 45) and as I got the intersection it turned yellow, I could not stop without being rear ended so chose to speed up, whammy, that thing lit up like a christmas tree.

That is not the way the camera works. It works off an embedded line in the road. Speeding had nothing to do with you getting flashed. If someone was behind you the flash was meant for them, if you no one was behind you the ticket belongs to you as you. Entering an intersection in late yellow - early red is going to trigger that line because your car was not passed it.

There is only one cure for this: Brake on yellow, stop on red. I drive a school bus, and watch those countdowns on the walk-don't walk signs. I always stop when in the left turn lane when I see 3 seconds or less. I don't care what the driver behind me does. If he hits me, it's his fault.

I agree, the driver behind us is not our responsibility. The driver behind must be far enough behind to stop.

I doubt a judge would allow an excuse that one was worried about the car behind them.

If people would drive by the rules, just as you quoted them, then there would be less red light running and much less danger to other drivers and pedestrians.

Because of red light runners, it's very dangerous to make a left turn at a red light. If you're sitting in the middle of the intersection waiting for traffic to clear, and you start to make the turn as soon as your light turns red so you can go, then you risk getting hit by one who is running that light.

That's why I make damn sure that the cars are gonna stop. Ticks folks off that are behind me but too bad.

Likewise, if I'm behind someone that's waiting to turn left, I don't cross into the intersection right behind 'em. I have no problem waiting for another cycle.

What you should do is call the city as soon as possible to ask if your name is under a ticket processing. This way you can find out sooner rather than later.
