I just look at all the cement walls and think - ugggh. That is the only turnoff and it would definitely take some getting used to - but then I'd have to remember that an AZ backyard could be extended into the great hiking trails, mountains, and all of the other natural beauty that AZ has to offer.

well they're undoubtedbly much smaller than those you're used to, but I think a lot of people decorate the interior-facing side of the block. Otherwise it's pretty industrial-looking. Anyhow, here's mine:

Wow, that looks very nice!! I really like the big tree in the corner. I'd have to have some nice trees. You are correct, a good paint job or stucco can go a long ways in making the wall blend in better. Did you put stucco on as well? Or is that all paint? Many compliments to you! Thanks for sharing : )

I was wondering how growing season is there? Is it too hot in the summer to grow vegetables? Or, can you grow them year-round?

The photos came out very nice, thank you for posting them.

I could live with a smaller back yard with a stucco wall. I think it looks neat. The older you get, the less chores you want to do.

Hi Ragnar,

Glad you enjoyed the pictures!! Attached are 4 more. One is a view from the 2nd story of a model home in the Mesa area. Another is from a 5K we did in the DC Ranch area (VERY nice area). The beautiful fortress home was taken from the summit of Camelback - you'd think it would look small from that far away, but nope. It was something else to see these gargantuan homes! I cannot imagine living in such a large place (okay, I guess I can kind of imagine it!). The remaining pic is also from Camelback, but shows the view of the city.
