Hello everyone!

My husband and I are moving into the Phoenix area with jobs that require traveling around. I have lived in Mesa in the past, but didn't spend much time in Phoenix to learn which neighborhoods are good and how the commutes are.

He will be traveling in west Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Buckeye, and occasionally up to Flagstaff and Prescott.

I will be traveling in east Phoenix, Scottsdale, and occasionally Fountain Hills and Cave Creek.

Any advice for where to live in a good commuting location for both of us would be appreciated! We'd like to be fair to one another and pick a good central location, looking at the map only it seems like north Phoenix is a good spot, though maybe some Glendale or Scottsdale neighborhoods are worth looking at.

We'll be renting a house to start - until we know where we want to be long term. Thanks for any input!

I live in north east Phoenix, near where SR51 and 101 intersect (near Paradise Valley Community College).

I highly recommend the area and find it is close to everything we need with the east and west valleys being easily accessible via the 101. We don't spend much time in the east or west valleys, but we both commute to downtown for work via the 51 and it is about 15 miles.

Hitting I17 for a trip to Prescott or Flag is a breeze and we're not far from Cave Creek at all. We enjoy the Desert Ridge area for dining and entertainment too.

There are a few scattered rentals in my neighborhood.

Take a drive and check out the area. There are both newer homes and older homes in the area.

I'm from Boston and just moved to Deer Valley area. I work in Scottsdale, so the drive is not too far for me.
