I believe that John Edwards represented the the children injured by these pool grates when he was a practicing attorney. Several children were sucked into these drains and had their innards sucked out. They needed a lot of medical care for years.

Actually, Edwards just had one of those cases. The injuries varied, one at least as you describe, the others more from near drowning; at least one died. The covers in question in this thread are designed to keep what happened to those kids from happening, so it's crucial that they work correctly.

Yes, these were the ones to abide by the 2008 mandate. A lot of HOAs spent thousands to do retrofits.
