The title says it all. I'm looking for a the best places to pick up both. Any reccomendations other than HD and Lowes would be greatly appreciated.

I remember several years back they had a few remodeling super stores in the valley but they seemed to have disapeared post real estate bust.

The Great Indoors still has two locations in the Valley.

Cappadonna's in Tempe has a great selection and will order. But be careful - the prices can be high.

Lamps Plus has a large selection too. Stick with and be loyal to one salesperson and they will call you when there is a sale on something you want, which can save you substantial amounts of money.

In almost all cases, HD and Loews are less expensive, unless you want something high end. In that case, compare the local store price to what you can find online, plus shipping. Most local stores will match that price, you still pay sales tax, but you're getting your purchase immediately and patronizing a local business.

Default ..

Thank you for the suggestions. My reason for options other than HD and Lowes is to support local if possible and to find a little better selection than the national "canned" items.

Seems like the big box have all the same 20 or so fans and 5-10 pendents.

We were able to find things online that we liked, then asked the manufacturer for a dealer i'n this area. That was how we found cappadonna's.

But, truthfully, I order more and more online. If you can be patient, there are remarkable items on craigslist.

We bought a light fixture at Lamps Plus in Peoria and was really happy with the selection they had there.

I wish I had shopped there sooner as I replaced five ceiling fans in our house two years ago, bought them all at Lowe's. The next time I need a ceiling fan or light fixture, they will be first place I visit.
