My husband and I, with our 3 children, are moving to ...Hopefully the west suburbs side of phoenix. Was looking into glendale, but now i was reading about lots of gang activity. Looking for a newer nice (quiet) community between phoenix and Litchfield park. Looking for that quiet small town feel. As my husband will be working in phoenix and i will be working in Litchfield park. Any recommendations for communities? Any input would be SUPER awesome!!!

I don't know where you were reading about "lots of gang activity" in Glendale. I'm sure the folks living out in Arrowhead Ranch and other areas of north Glendale would be interested in hearing about it.

Why aren't you living in Litchfield Park, for starters? The commute from there would not be that bad. Other west suburbs that are nice are not really "between" Litchfield and Phoenix, but are to the south or north of Litchfield Park.

Please do say.... where do you suggest is a nice quiet place to live. Need a reasonable commute time from both areas. He may be working in chandler, gilbert, tempe, or phoenix...lol We will find out within the next few weeks. He's a GM with Qdoba, and will be transferring with the company. I have never been to AZ, but my husband has family in Queen Creek. So I know NOTHING about any area, but only what I read ..lol. His Uncle has only been in the east side in Queen Creek, so can't really tell us much either. Please fill me in on anything you possibly can. Trying to stay below $1000 rent for a 3br single family.

To Gilbert and Chandler, yes, it's a long commute. If he ends up working on the east side of the Valley and you in Litchfield Park, then living in a more central Phoenix area would be best, as you would both be going against traffic during normal commuting areas.

There are lots of safe areas in Phoenix (no area is completely crime free in any large metro area). I'm not particularly familiar with rental prices, but do some looking around in 85018, the west part of 85251 (which is Scottsdale). Quiet? Most residential neighborhoods (compared to apartment complexes) are quiet.

You need to pin down where he's working, and then come out and stay in one of the extended stay hotels while you look around and find a rental that works for you.

I agree, Litchfield Park would be the perfect place to live for a suburban but still somewhat of a small-town feel, little crime, and mostly quiet.

Otherwise the closer you get to Phoenix the less tranquil it will be, even Goodyear and Avondale are growing fast and seemed to have lost that small-town feeling years ago.

Definitely try to pinpoint a location - even parts of phoenix can be a long commute from places that are an easy commute to Litchfield Park

Also keep in mind that many homes with a LP address are not actually in LP (which is only around 3.3 sq miles) and the homes outside the walls will feel no different than goodyear, avondale, etc

Yes, there is some gang/crime issues in glendale - however, they are pretty easy to avoid and I wouldn't broad brush the whole city (it is a rather large one in it's own right) ..... plenty of nice areas, but it may not make sense to live there either depending on where your husband works
