Too expensive for how far out it is. If your going to do a commute from hell anyway, may as well head to Pinal County and get a house for way cheaper.

Depends on where you commute...
Eastmark has a couple of schools .. BASIS Mesa is great, if you have kids that are more STEM oriented.
Just depends on what your priorities are..

Never make a housing decision based on proximity to Basis or Great Hearts unless your kids are already in. Each of these schools receive hundreds of applicants for every one available spot.

It's been great. We really like the DMB Associates developer's Verrado community which is why we decided to look here. It's close proximity to the 202 makes it convenient enough for it not to be a commute from hell. Try commuting from the west side and having the sun in your eyes both ways .

There are plenty of community events organized to engage the residents and we don't need to travel far to get our necessities. Mind you, the community is still in its infancy so there are still lots of construction activities. You probably will get more house for your buck out west or in Florence county but I have no real complaints living here. There is a sense of community I am proud to be part of.

We did move out here for the Basis school but knowing it was new (it is only on its third year) meant a better chance of getting in. Our eldest just started 4th grade.

Looked there when it opened and wasn't impressed. It will be a good decade before any decent retail or commercial arrives in the area. It's a hellish commute if you have to work. It is also an EPA Superfund site.

The prices were to high and I got a weird cult vibe there. If you buy there, its going to be a while before you will be able to sell and not take a loss.

I found this. This would be close but not the same land Eastmark sits on. Likely the same groundwater.... which you won't be tapped into at all living there.

Williams Air Force Base

Listed: 1989

Location: Mesa, now Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

Problem: Contaminants from base activities including organic solvents and paint strippers, petroleum spills, metal plating wastes, hydraulic fluids, pesticides and radiological wastes seeped into the groundwater and soil.

Impact: About 2 million gallons of jet fuel ended up in an aquifer, but the groundwater is not used for drinking. Some 90 to 95 percent of that is expected to be removed by the end of next year.

Az Central is the source on this article.

Groundbreaking for the pool in September and should be open in time for summer next year. Not sure what ajonesz meant by cult vibe but to each their own. We bought for the long term and not looking to sell until after the kids have hopefully left the nest. Also no hurry for commercial/retail in the community when Queen Creek marketplace, Gilbert Gateway Town Centre, Santan Village etc are easy driving distance? A Frys is opening up at Mulberrys while Bashas and Safeway are not far. It is probably a hellish commute if you were to work in Phoenix downtown and points north of it but that depends on the individual circumstances.
