I am not from phoenix obviously, but, isn't it too hot to be outside during summer? It seems it will quite uncomfortable to not only watch baseball, but, to play. Native residents please tell me why the festivities are being held in AZ. outdoors. Isn't it like over 100 degrees?

Pretty sure the roof will be closed. If you didn't know, Chase Field has a retractable roof.

EVERYTHING is indoors, and air conditioned, including the games and the Derby. Fan Fest is in the Convention Center across from the ballpark. Temps in the 70's indoors, at Chase Field and at FanFest. They are also opening the ballpark hours earlier than normal to make sure that no one is out in the heat.

it's amazing they've been able to play baseball for over a decade here in a fully airconditioned building with temps over 100 degrees ....... how does anyone survive?!

Earlier this season they were doing some testing with opening the roof on hotter days (around 100 outside) to see about the comfort level inside. I was there for one of those games and with the roof open it was still very nice inside. It wouldn't surprise me if they have it open since the forecasted high temps for Mon and Tues are around 100.

I could see the panels - but highly doubt the roof itself with most of the stuff starting around 5ish ..... a lot of people paying a lot of money and their comfort will be paramount

When the Giants were in town it was well over 100 and they opened the roof. It was nice. The roof only takes a couple minutes to open. I bet that if the roof isn't open from the start that they will open it a some point.
