You can take a sample to a pool supply store to test if it will help you feel better about it. They'll tell you if it's chemically OK or needs any adjustment.

DON'T empty a pool in this heat. You need to wait until it's cooler to empty a pool to prevent damage. I would start fresh if I bought a house with a pool but I'd wait until the fall when swim season is over and it's not so hot out.

A good reason NOT to change it now is because it is so hot outside, the pool may crack. The best times for changing pool water is either when the cooler weather hits - but before potentially freezing temperatures, or after winter, before it gets hot again.

I think that it is OK to empty a pebbletec pool in the heat. Plaster pools are the ones you have to be careful with.

My pool company did some work on my pool this year (pebbletec) and they insisted the work be done in April before the heat to avoid damage. I tried to push it to may because we were having other landscaping work done and they said it would be to hot to drain the pool.
I figured the pool company knew what they were talking about.

I checked my records and we have drained our pebbletec pool twice, both times in summer, with no ill effects.
