Anyone else in the Surprise (and maybe surrounding cities) using this water company upset about the potential water increase costs? I guess they're planning to almost increase it by 80%. Which is seriously absurd... I don't need another money hogging APS company charging me for for fees that keeps THEIR business running like a lawyers office. :-/

What's your thoughts? Anyone know any other information about it?

Folks, this thread is about a specific rate increase for a specific water company in Surprise. Any side discussions about climate change and water rates throughout the country are off topic and will be deleted. Thanks.

I received three notices this week about the hearings for the increase at the Corporation Commission. For those who want to go, there is a Surprise Public Comment Session August 22, 2011 at 6PM 19753 N Remington Drive Surprise AZ 85374.

You can also send comments to the AZ Corporation Commission through their website. The hearings are August 17, 2011 at 1PM and August 25, 2011 at 9:30AM, 1200 W Washington Street Phoenix AZ.

azjack, I received those noticed too. I don't understand what purpose they will serve though. So, most people in Surprise are going to be against the price increase, but is that going to stop the water company? I've already noticed the water here is more expensive than it was in El Mirage and Goodyear.

I doubt that it would hurt to contact the corporation commission or attend one of the Surprise events. I do not know how much difference someone can make, but generally, active participation gets counted.

If enough people show up at the meetings and express their displeasure maybe we have a chance. Remember there is strength in numbers. United we stand divided we fall.............As for me Show me the justification for an 80% increase and maybe I'd be ok with it..........NOT............... but Just asking for 80% is crazy!

That would be like waking up and for no reason we all embraced a 200% INCREASE IN THE PRICE OF GAS AND NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT...........WHOA........AS A MATTER OF FACT.........nobody did anything about it!

Show up and complain or forever hold your peace and give up all rights to Moderator cut: snip 'cause you didn't do anything to stop it!
