Are there many or any midrise or high rise apartment buildings in North and North East Phoenix, and Scottsdale? I have been spending some time looking for apartments and they only seem to be the “Garden Style” apartment complexes that are 3 stories tall and have multiple separate buildings. Can anyone make some suggestions? Thanks.

I think the general concept (and the City of Phoenix's General Plan) is that areas north of Camelback are primarily family residences (except maybe along Central Avenue) and that apartments should be limited in height (I think Donald Trump ran into that a while back). As I am sure you have already observed, most of the high rise apartments (condos, lofts or whatever you want to call them) are towards central Phoenix.

Thanks Nightnurse. I wanted to find a building with elevators in North Phoenix but after spending some time searching I am not sure that I will find one.

Like the second poster said, you can find loft high rises for rent. Go to Phoenix Lofts, Tempe Condos, Scottsdale Lofts and More. I'm fixated on Camelback's Optima Biltmore Towers. There are many for rent. In fact, I'm entertaining the idea of renting a loft because usually they are higher rents than luxury garden style apartments, which would mean fewer section 8 types. I lived among section 8 types off and on for over 30 years and I tell you, they are savages for the most part.

Howard, there are lots of places that Section 8 will not approve. most would be worse than Section 8.

Arcadia Del Sol has 4 stories and elevators but if you're looking for luxury then you'll want to skip this place probably, maybe.

Thanks MaxPower: Any other apartment buildings with elevators to recommend? There are some nice condo buildings mentioned in another post but they seem a bit expensive and my experience in renting condos is that the condo availability may change quickly after one is living there. Thanks

new lofts at 16th and Campbell---great area--rent is kind of high....with 'vators.
Level at Sixteenth Street Apartments, 1550 E. Campbell Ave. Phoenix, AZ - Apartments for Rent on ApartmentGuide.com | Phoenix Arizona | 85797

"The Level". Very above average looking apartments and a good alternative to Downtown, as it has more/better shopping and less crime (check maps).
