No matter where you buy them, if you can find some, they may be illegal to set off where you live. City ordinances vary.

They will be illegal regardless of where he lives. Firecrackers are not legal anywhere in the state (assuming you don't live on a reservation) and a city can't override a state law.

The law was changed effective December, 2010 to permit some fireworks. How else would you explain the wide open sales of permitted fireworks (at Fry's, Safeway, etc.) in certain Valley cities before July 4 this year? The law permits individual cities to continue to restrict their sale or use, and many do.

This link provides some useful information. http://phoenix.about.com/od/citiesto...In-Arizona.htm

And here's the statute: http://www.keytlaw.com/blog/2010/05/...use-bill-2246/

He didn't ask about fireworks, he asked for firecrackers which are illegal statewide.

Those terms are not always used precisely by everyone. Better to be sure he has the information he might need. Thanks!
