I have to drop off a friend to the Mesa airport for a 7AM flight during a weekday. I've never been to the Mesa airport before (I'm coming from Surprise).

How early should I leave (think traffic, and getting through security). I know Sky Harbor lines can be long. But how about Mesa?? Is an 1 hour enough time to clear security with carry on?

Thanks for your help.

With one commercial airline, I couldn't imagine it would take longer than one hour. But to get a definitive answer I would call Allegiant and ask them what their recommended time is.

You should drop off your friend approximately 45 minutes pre-flight. Once through security, he/she can enjoy a coffee or something while waiting to board.. Better to be on time than late, even though the parking lot is very tiny and the lines aren't very long...

Mesa Gateway is a breeze! An hour is plenty of time. Last time I had a SNAFU and got there 30 min prior to boarding and it was no problem.

I just dropped him off in the AM. It took 1 hour and 20 minutes in the rain from Surprise. It was even quicker on the way back. I left at 4:45 from Surprise and got him there 55 minutes before his 7AM flight.

I only fly out of Mesa airport now, usually I am checked-in and ready to board within 30 minutes, the worst has been 90 minutes and that was near a major holiday. I find it's much easier to get checked in and into the back area than flying out of Sky Harbor.

Takes me about an hour to get there form north phoenix.
