There are many wonderful historic neighborhoods in downtown Phoenix; I would live there if I could afford it. There is some crime, it's an inner city so that goes without saying. Your daughter will not be living in the area ghetto-guy is talking about.

Downtown Phoenix is very cool and will be even more so as time goes on. I see changes for the better each week as LR construction cleanup moves north on Central.

Mild allergies will turn into big allergies for anyone moving to the Valley. Downtown Phx still has alot of building and LR construction which makes allergies even worse than most other Valley locations.

Young and single and looking for night life? Don't choose downtown Phoenix.

I agree, downtown Phoenix is on the upswing and the light rail will only help things, but there really is nothing to do downtown. Yes, there are some bars and the eating establishments are becoming more common, but there is barely any retail (Arizona center was a failure) and the night life is hit or miss.

A young person would be much happier in the Mill Avenue area of Tempe or Old Town Scottsdale. Also consider West Gate in Glenndale which is getting biger and bigger as time goes on.

Downtown Phoenix in 5-10 years may be the place to be in the Valley but today there are far better options for a person in their 20's. Smaller cities on the East coast have better downtowns than Phoenix which is a shame considering Phoenix has close to 1.5 million people and the metro of 4.5 million doesn't revolve around it's main city.

I may be wrong, but isn't Goodyear west of downtown Phoenix. If so, you wouldn't be driving into the sun morning and night, the sun would be behind you. I mean it rises in the east and sets in the west, no?

LOL, Saul I was thinking the same thing when I read it, and couldn't believe no one caught that.

I just moved downtown in a high-rise on the 20th floor, The view is amazing, the area is amazing, the drive to work is 3 miles!! I'm very happy. Since I'm a single man living alone it's ideal for me, wouldn't neccessarily want to raise a family in a loft condo, but even then I'd buy in the historical district!
I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!!!

I lived in Litchfield Park before and HATED IT!!, nothing there except strip malls! Nothing to do except spend money! On top of the already $300 in fuel cost I pay to commute

Congrats trudawg, I love to hear of people moving downtown and helping revive it. I'm assuming your condo is at Summit at Copper Square?

actually I moved in the executive towers on clarendon and central. I looked at the summit, and I wasn't moved. small balcony small units, simulated wood floors. Honestly it reminded me of a modern college dorm. The pool on the 10th floor roof top was great, the lounge area on the roof was great too. The parking garage was not-so great. They advertised "two spots" It was acutally 1 spot with a small lift to lift one car on top of the other. I have a gigantic Dodge Ram Quad-Cab, and 19ft long 64 Chevy Impala, so that alone killed the deal for me. Seemed geared more towards the 3 or 5 series beamer drivers.......... but for the money I would have spent I was really seeking a more luxurious feel.
I chose the executive towers, even though it's an older builder (built in 1964) My condo is 1600 sq. feet, 2 bd room and is fully updated it has floor to cieling windows, in each room with a walk-out balcony. I was sold the minute I walked in, and the last time I felt like that was when I bought my last house.
I love living downtown! Safeway is walking distance, A-J foods is a hop skip and a jump, and Durants is a stones throw away.
Where abouts are you HX_Guy??
