I'm relocating for work from Tucson to Phoenix. My office will be near the Phoenix/Scottsdale border around 52nd & McDowell. I'm looking for a safe, family friendly area with good schools & daycares and a reasonable commute to work. I've lived in the city of Maricopa before and loved it but it's too far of a commute. We will be renting until we find the perfect location so rental prices is also a factor. Looking for a 4 bedroom house for up to $1050 per month.

Thoughts on Avondale & Tolleson areas?

I've been searching articles online and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm not fond of Tucson as the areas are so mixed with good and bad.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

why would you want to go out there, when there are better areas within two miles of your work----and within your budget?

What areas? From my research on Scottsdale the only thing we could afford is an apartment and I my co-workers have said the 52nd street/McDowell area is bad.

I'd avoid tolleson just on the surface - it's a pretty small community, but on the aggregate will lag in a lot of your requirements .... it is also a bit of a commute to where you are going (and even worse coming back........)

Avondale is further out and depending on the parts you could find what you need .... although it's not a commute I would enjoy

I would focus more on tempe, mesa, gilbert, chandler and if you want to stretch it out places up north of the 101

that 4th bedroom is going to be tough, but as Kid said..south part of Arcadia.

52nd McDowell is a little rough, but your budget is close to market for a 4 br. Big family homes in good areas and in good condition start at about 1250 and quickly go up.....

6830 N 10th Pl Phoenix AZ - Home for Rent - MLS #4684085 - Realtor.com®

there are very good public schools here.

Is Arcadia a suberb? I've never heard of it. I'm glad I'm researching now. Thanks for the advice!

And, a 3 bedroom would be fine too.

No reason to go to Avondale or Tolleson. Bad commute. A bit north and east of your work location-- 44th St n of Thomas, and on east of 44th, will do just fine. Also N of Thomas on 40th, N of Indian School on 32nd.
