My wife and I hope to move to Arizona from Michigan soon.
I am a 33 year old disabled Veteran (not rich) with a 3 year old and a 13 year old, work is not an issue, neither is desert heat, I've spent plenty of time in the desert and love it.
I would like to find a place with good schools and low crime.
Near a usable lake or river if possible.
Golf is not a concern.
I have been examining the map and am interested in Parker/ Lake Havasu, and Apache Junction yet I keep reading good and bad things about both of them.
Metro Phoenix seems to have a lot going on, I just know nothing about any of the cities there other than what the chambers of commerce have sent me. How is Scottsdale?
Any insider tips?

Check out the northern parts of Glendale and Peoria where you have close access to Lake Pleasant. I'm kind of getting that you enjoy outdoor activities and I know several people who live in the area who are very in to boating, fishing, jet skis, dirt bikes, etc. I think the area may be a better fit for you than Scottsdale.
