Yeah, well, no one asked me if I thought it was worth it.

Just go to a local barber or stylist and tip them $50. If Tom Cruise went to a place on Rodeo Drive or SuperCuts no one would know the difference.

Please don't hate me for this. I use a pet clipper set on my own hairs and sit on the patio. My sheltie, on the other hand, has a monthly appointment at the groomers. I am just sort of a "low-end," kind of old man. I cook my own quality food at home and don't give expensive gifts. I do seem to have a little money when I see someone in trouble and can sometimes make a difference.

Ummm... You've definitely never had a "professional" haircut. I'm not blaming you for never spending more than $15 on your haircut, but you should try asking anyone someone who has had an expensive haircut (or get one yourself before ignorantly making such absurd statements).

Why do women routinely spend several times more than men on haircuts ?? One leading reason is that the understand that one gets what they pay for in this matter. That, and women tend to be much more fashion savvy than men on average.

Women also enjoy spending money on decorative soap and matching towels and shower curtains.

Seriously, some of you guys need to pick up a copy of GQ once in awhile. It's not unmanly to want to look nice and as if you live in the current year!

OP, most of the more fashion-conscious salons I've been to work on both men and women. When I lived in Pittsburgh I patronized a new salon once. Turned out to be a wild success and in a matter of a couple of years the salon owner, who had been doing my hair, had some of the TV news anchors and mostly very wealthy people as customers. He kept doing my hair, and kindly not raising the price, but it became almost impossible to book an appointment with him. So I sat there while he cut my hair and watched his other stylists. One young woman worked almost exclusively with men. Some of the scraggliest guys sat in her chair and left looking like a million bucks. I became one of her clients because I think that the cut is all-important in styling hair, particularly if one's hair is short. I stayed with her for about 10 years and we changed my style many times to keep up with current looks.

Among the guys who got haircuts, manicures, and pedicures there were several Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. One regular was so huge I don't know how he fit his feet in the foot spa.

Really my main point is, you don't have to stick to barber shops to get a great cut. And what guy could possibly be feel girly if the person in the next chair is wearing a Super Bowl ring?

I don't know. I've had many $15 haircuts and many $50 ones and I don't think there's much difference, but I usually stick to the $50 ones after a few odd $15 stylists. I do miss how fast the $15 ones are. I hate spending an hour in the salon for a measly haircut. Not too girly, I guess. I'd do a drive-thru if I could.

Thanks for the help!!
Save your money, Speedattai . . .

be satisfied with a $15 haircut and buy a BALL CAP for those Bad Hair Days.

Is it really necessary to try to look like a GQ guy in order to look nice, and like you live in the current year? Looking like you live in the current year is a fad that many men don't care to follow.

The current style appears to be spiked hair, and any well trained barber can do that. Why pay $80 when it can be done for $15/20? Just my personal opinion.
