Hey there,

I was just wondering if you all knew anything about mass transit choices from Gilbert, AZ into Scottsdale, AZ?

We're toying with becoming a one-car family and wanted to know what you could tell us about this type of transportation.

Thanks,

Elizabeth A. Genge

VERY limited. www.valleymetro.org is the website for the transit system. It would take at least two transfers to get into Scottsdale, more depending on exactly where you are going. Not a feasible commuting option.

Your title says Scottsdale/Phoenix, so I'm not sure if you want to know about more than Scottsdale. The service to and from Gilbert/downtown Phoenix is better, due to an express route that runs only during morning and evening hours.

on valley metro's site there is a place where you can sign up for carpools. I have done this in the past in other states, but carpooling seems pretty unpopular here, and i think difficult to do with all the variability with commuting patterns.

i signed up to carpool here and couldn't find ANYBODY who lives somewhat near me in mesa commuting to south phoenix.

and fwiw, i would not want to commute by car from gilbert to scottsdale - unless i had a different shift than the typical daytime shift most people have. the 101 is a disaster, unless you can take advantage of the HOV lanes.
