I don't know where you are in Fountain Hills but I think Saguaro Lake is more like 10 minutes, maybe 15. I can get to Saguaro from Mesa in 30 minutes easily.

From Shea Blvd. and the Beeline highway, it's about 15 miles, the last few being a bit slow, so maybe closer to half an hour from a random spot in Fountain Hills, or about 20 minutes from the Fort?

You're right. Google maps says about 18 mins. from Shea/87. It seems closer.

Thank you everyone for the input! ...As some had correctly mentioned, yes, the "laid back vibe" that I'm looking for can probably be found in numerous places across the US, and a "laid back vibe" can be found in every state. I suppose I am looking for something specific; I just hope I know it when I see it. I'll be out there soon enough, so hopefully I'll know sooner than later!
