Any views on 8111 West Glendale Avenue, Glendale apartments?

Apparently there are room for rent for $400. That does seem cheap!

Yea, it's the start of a sketchy area, from 83rd Ave going east it's not good.

Punch in the address on Google and take a look at Street View and see what kind of apartments they are, that should tell you everything you need to know.

Bear in mind I'm not American, so it's hard for me to tell what is acceptable or not. They look like very small units on google.

I had read here most of Phoenix is fine though, apart from the South and the Maryvale area. This one looks like West Glendale, so I was hoping it would be safe for a short 6 month stay.

Maybe finding safe areas in the Phoenix area is not as straight forward as some would have us believe?

That apartment's not that far from the Maryvale area, which is (very) roughly between 35th Ave. and 87th Ave., and Camelback Rd. to I-10.

What's your price range, and what are you looking for in terms of size, etc.? Do you want a studio or one bedroom? I'm sure the locals can point you to some safer yet affordable areas.

I wouldn't say that area is as bad as Maryvale, but it's more of a hit & miss area. Still a lot of sporadic development through there ... mostly a mix of apartments, strip malls, and vacant lots. About ten blocks to the west is Westgate, which is basically an entertainment district consisting of bars, restaurants, Jobing.com Arena, and the Cards Stadium. Drive past there and you'll probably wonder why something like that was plunked in the middle of nowhere. Obviously, the presence of Westgate hasn't enhanced the surrounding area all that much.
