Leisure World is a mix of condos, duplexes and single family homes, with a choice of desert or grass landscaping. Two golf courses, two swimming pools, an outstanding library and fitness center, lots of clubs. You can send me a direct message if you have specific questions. The house next door to us just went up for long term rental.

My suggestion is do what I did. Rent First. Rent first especially if you are moving here from a distant region of the country. For me I am just beginning retirement. I'm also a younger retiree. I felt that in itself is a huge adjustment. Retirement. Adding on to that I am from Massachusetts, and I'm trying Arizona out for retirement. Quite a distance from familiar surroundings. And most of all living in a retirement community. In an environment that is somewhat foreign to me ,both in personality and populations is another adjustment. Lets face it none of us spent our lives in retirement communities before moving to one. So I felt there were just way to many major adjustments initially. So for me I felt it would be very foolish to purchase a home right away. So I took the years lease on a small home here in Sun City West. I could not be happier I am renting first. If I find I don't care for this type of living then I am free to go when the lease is up. I can't imagine buying a home in a new place and finding you don't care for living there, and be stuck with a house. I like having options especially in the early retirement stages. Right now I both like and dislike some aspects of living here. One problem is it is really to far from life beyond Surprise and Peoria for me. I really am not liking all the driving involved with living in the 4th or 5th largest Metro in the USA. There isn't even minimal bus service here. I really do think a retiree should consider options for transportation when no family exists in the area. You just never know what can happen in life. I don't like being completely dependent on a vehicle in this large a Metro. So time will tell. So for me this arrangement works but everyone is different, so do what one feels is right for them. I do however recommend anyone in my type situation do rent first, because you just never know how you will adjust to a new envirnoment.

I am curious if any of these retirement places offer bus/shuttle services? Such as to medical facilities or to go to the mall, etc? Thanks.

Of your presented options i would choose Sun Lakes. We bought at Trilogy at Vistancia but Sun Lakes would have been our second choice. We're 56 now and bought at 55

I found they don't at least at Sun City West. It is completely auto dependent and there is quite abit of traffic on the few roads in and out of this Surprise, Az area.

Thank you for your replies. I can still drive and hopefully will continue to do so for many more years, but would be nice to have that service should it be needed at some point.
