How does the summer heat compare? Besides in Phoenix, it's a dry heat.

DH works in HVAC and he says it's the humidity that kills him, not the heat in general. We have been out to the desert in the summer about 5 times (mostly Vegas area) and have not found the heat to be as oppressive as here in the Southeast (NC). He says it will actually be easier for him in Arizona. Any comments?

I never lived in NC but have lived in the southeast as well as SE Florida for 15 years I have lived in Arizona for 6 years now. All factors considered Arizona is the hands down winner.
1. better weather(7 months are better than Florida and the summer is more bearable than Florida)
2.closer proximity to weekend vacation areas(california, vegas, mexico and N arizona)
3 less bugs
4 friendlier people( more people with core family values live in Az)
5 better housing available in AZ (newer and cheaper)
6 cheaper food costs due to having over a dozen different food stores in AZ as opposed to 1 major monopoly in Florida (Publix)
7 This is the reason I moved (no natural disasters in Arizona where in Florida you never no when life or property will be ruined by a hurricane or a tornado)

Thanks for your thoughts. That's kind of what I thought. And also about the proximity to vacation areas. I've seen enough of the East Coast.

Lived here most of my life but spent 7 years south of the Houston area. I have to agree with everything posted here. The dry heat is much easier to deal with than the humidity. Just be prepared to buy lots of lotion and get used to some bloody noses until your body adjusts a bit.

We lived in the NE prior to retiring..and..the humidity here, in AZ, is as low as 4%. There have been days when we've gotten out of the pool on a 99 degree day and have been cold.

I don't think I've ever come across a more positive post about Arizona!
