Annually, my family and I go on a trip to the White Mountains to get out of this heat. It's tradition to go for the fourth of July. We love it!

Do you take a camping trip up North to get out of this heat? If, so where to?

Yes! We go to Forest Lakes, East of Payson.

This year we want to visit the Grand Canyon for a Day, then Camp near Flagstaff. We don't know the area for camping, so were need some recommendations.

Mogollon rim north of Payson/Strawberry is nice and there are camping areas up there as well. Nice to go there because its close and there are some small lakes to trout fish in plus the view driving on the old logging roads is awesome.

I love all the places already mentioned. I try to do some camping in the high country of Southern AZ now and then. Mt. Graham, Mt. Wrightson, Mt. Lemmon and the Chiricahuas in particular. Haven't been to Graham yet, but with it's 10,000' or so elevation, 4 streams and Riggs Lake I'm real curious.

Camping? No. We take an annual trip to Lake Tahoe for a week though. Hotel style. A/C style. Such a great break from this place. But makes it so depressing to come back here. lol.

I recently took a series of camping trips that included Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands in Utah, then went to Mesa Verde, Colorado, and then both the North Rim and South Rim of the Grand Canyon. All of the locations at elevation had pleasant temperatures. Bryce was freezing at night (got down to 25 degrees,) but that was a few weeks ago. Zion was already getting a little warm during the day, as it's at lower elevation.

That's awesome. I wish more people knew about the Grand Circle. I think more people know about it in Germany than they do here in the US.

Coincidentally, when we were staying in Cedar City, the night before our trip up the Narrows, the PBS station in our hotel room was showing a documentary on the history of the Grand Circle.
