I was just browsing apt rentals in Mesa/Phx area and there are furnished small studios (300 sq ft) with all utilities included for $650/mo and no lease.

Sounds too good to be true? Am I missing something here?

btw, the apt in question is Fiesta Village on W. Southern Ave in Mesa- is this a decent area?

I'm in SFO, so granted $650 sounds like a steal, but I'm not sure if these rates are the norm in Mesa area.

Not the best area, but not the worst, either. And, "utilities included" means an older building and may mean that you don't get the level of air conditioning that's comfortable for you.

It looks like it's a former hotel converted to rentals.

Thanks. Do they have a pre-set ac temp from their end that you cannot change in your apt?

I guess one could buy 2-3 fans and leave it on 24/7 and not worry about the electric bill if ac use/temp is curtailed.

Some have preset temps, some have individual thermostats in each unit. I live in townhomes that have a/c and heating included in the rent, I can set my own temperature.

The A/C thing is worth asking about before committing to moving in.
