The Phoenix metro area ranked 4th in Milken Institute (economic think tank) study of best performing cities. Phoenix metro was in the top ten on both job creation and wage and salary growth.

About the Best Performing Cities Index: The Index ranks U.S. metros based on their ability to create and sustain jobs. It includes both long-term (five years) and short-term (one year) measurements of employment and salary growth. There are also four measurements of technology output growth, which are included because of technology’s crucial role in regional economic growth.

Hey, we didn't do too bad, either! I had to acknowledge it 'cause you unneighborly Phoenicians wouldn't have.

Sonar thanks for making my English look good....lol....anyhow, as far as the research the Milken Institute has conducted and the statement about:
Quote:
The Index ranks U.S. metros based on their ability to create and sustain jobs. It includes both long-term (five years) and short-term (one year) measurements of employment and salary growth.
Also the name SonarSound didn't make much sense to me, almost like saying sunlight lights...?
I guess, it is legal for Milken employees to smoke crack at work....no seriously, as far as IT field goes, pay is bad, period!
There might be so called 'salary growth' and if that is indeed the case, there is a lot of growing ahead...even though the PC Technician, Support Specialist jobs are quite elementary for my skill set, some of these employers actually have the nerve to offer as low as $11/hr and require 1+ year experience and certification while In n Out burger hired young kids with not experience or skill of any kind at almost $10/hr. I wanna strangle these cheap.ss companies!!
If my sister didn't want to relocate here (and she will be next week), even if I did come here anyway, after seeing the cost of living and the pay range in my field, I would have moved to another state in a heartbeat!
The employer always have the same BS comeback when I turn down an offer due to pay; "but cost of living is a lot less than CA" which is not so. I was making $500 a bucks more and the only thing that is cheaper is the rent ($400 a month less) so how is cost of living any less? This state requires motorcycle smog certification which CA even doesn't require (and it makes no sense to require it from a motorcycle any more than to require one from a diesel vehicle).
I think the so called 'growth' was caused by this place being inexpensive and nice to live in at one point but after all the people relocated and the city is expanded beyond what a desert city was meant to, the growth stop and the city is no longer that 'desirable'
...also, imo, the real estate investors caused a part of this so called growth!

Despite all my disappointment and whining, it is not that bad of a place if you can adapt to it and to the weather and that is why I am going to stick around and give it some time before deciding my next move...

Pardon my typos and whining, I am alone in this city and a bit depressed and quite possibly why I am not too happy about being here since I have no friends and I am a strangers in a strange land...and a bit buzzed.

We - the USA - have the last true free market economy in the world.

If you are looking to be lazy and get freebies and handouts and free healthcare and so on without having to work for it, live in Europe.

If you are willing to work and build something and make something of yourself, and you believe that no one deserves anything they didn't work for, and you believe that it is *NOT* your responsibility to pay for the lazy, live in the USA.

The rest of the world hates us because they are jealous of our free market society. Or angry that their laziness won't fly here.

I didn't vote for Bush.

And you guys are the ones that brought us Hitler. That was real nice! Then we suited up and saved Europe for you. We're going to get tired of always bailing you out of all your problems. Man up and take a little responsibility.
