So far we've had 2 different companies out, and the sprinklers are still not working properly. I don't think it's complicated - just a few of them won't pop up very far, and one won't pop up at all.

Please let me know if you can recommend an awesome company that isn't too pricey. We're in NE Mesa.

Thanks

Did the 2 companies flush them? I mean remove the whole sprinkler and turn on the water so it shoots up in the air? Some times the dirt clogs them up and they need to be flushed. You can try this on your own !

In my experience, this can usually be done by a good gardener. Or a hardware store could recommend someone.

But if you want a pro, these guys, the Kredit family, have helped me in the past.

Question:

Did they *ever* work right?

There's math involved in setting up an irrigation system & if the person who installed the system didn't rtfm or do any math, new heads may do the same thing as old heads.

Thx everyone.... A company hired by the owner of the property dig up and re-did all the sprinklers (this is a small front yard) and upgraded the timer. They worked perfectly for about 6-8 weeks.

Then after that, just one wasn't popping up, we had that replaced, then they worked perfectly again for a few weeks.

Now about 3 or 4 of them aren't popping up very high - esp. one that doesn't pop up at all. Seems like low water pressure, but we never have any other water running when the sprinklers are on.

My husband & I are self employed, but our biz has nothing to do with gardening, so we wouldn't have a clue as to how to flush them out. So it looks like we'll call the Kredit family. We'd really like it done right this time... especially before it gets hot.

What you described sounds like a sticky valve. What happens is the solenoid doesn't pull hard enough to open all the way. Then you get much less water pressure. Some sprinklers will then pop up further than others which confuses some people. Often, if you leave the zone on for 5 minutes, the valve eventually opens up more and more and all of a sudden, enough water pressure occurs to fully lift more heads.

The other option not mentioned is a potential leak which is extremely common in the PHX area. Specifically with the black tubing. Contractors should never use that crappy stuff as it gets brittle in about 10 years with the hot, low humidity weather. To figure out if your zone has a leak, let that zone go and go for an hour and search for a leak.

So the three possibilities are the valve, plugged heads from dirt or a leak. Let us know what you learn.
