My DH and I were in Phoenix about 6 years ago and it seemed to me that everyone was driving really slow (at least compared to Chicago drivers). Then we noticed signs on the freeways about speed cameras. I don't remember where we stayed or what freeways we drove on.

About 6 months after our trip, I received a speeding ticket in the mail. I got pregnant a few later and couldn't find the ticket so I never paid it. I worried about it so I called some state office to pay but the person I talked to couldn't find it in their system. She said a bunch of out of state tickets got purged. I guess we'll see when I apply for a license.

We were in Phoenix last week and didn't notice any cameras on the freeways.

Do they still have speeding cameras in the Phoenix area?

It most likely got dismissed if you ignored it. They have 120 days to serve you with the ticket (mail doesn't count). If they fail to serve you the ticket in person in that time period, it is dismissed. They serve Phoenix/Arizona residents in person, but since you lived out of state, they most likely did not hire a process server. In that case, it would have been dismissed.

However, if you logged into their website to watch the video, you may have waived your right to being served in person. Either way, you can check the case by following this link. Public Access Case Lookup

To answer your question about cameras - they pulled down the *state* cameras, but individual cities still have them - (usually they're combination red-light/speed cameras at intersections, but some cities have mobile vans near school zones, etc). You wont see cameras on the 101 or I-17 - but (for example), nearly every major intersection of Scottsdale rd has a combo red-light/speed camera.

Many gps systems have a speed-camera "warning" setting - it's a good idea to turn that on when you're learning the roads here.

^^ And most of those cameras aren't even triggered until 10 or 15 over, so there's definitely a lot of leeway.

Your original ticket is most likely gone, as are the freeway cameras.
