A lot of the events are not shown live, they are shown later in prime time on Channel 12.

There are some events that are live, also on Channel 12, throughout the day, but it's usually going to be the more non-popular sports. If you want to watch everything live, you'll have to do it online.

Most of the olympics are pre-shown on NBC. In fact, I'm reading "spoilers" every single morning before they even air something on NBC in the US. Needless to say, the hours they were airing everything was also absurd, so I missed a lot of the olympics anyway.

Either way, you don't need cable to watch NBC. You just need an antenna. Get one hooked up to your TV, and you should get all, if not at least a few, of the basic channels : ABC, NBC, WG, FOX, and CBS.
