Free admission to selected museums on Sept 29th

More than 25 Arizona museums and cultural institutions are offering free admission during Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live! To get in free, you have to request a ticket from the website. The ticket, which is good for free entry for two people, will be e-mailed to you. Print it and take it with you to get free admission. Participating museums include Deer Valley Rock Art Center, Phoenix; Kitt Peak National Observatory Visitor Center and Museum, Sells; and Sharlot Hall Museum, Prescott. Limit one ticket per household, per e-mail address.

That's awesome.

Go to Kitt Peak before they close it down! It's been targeted for defunding by the NSF and there won't be anything like them available to the public for tours & viewings in the future. The ones in Hawaii and Chile don't have visitors facilities like Kitt's.



...I'm going to try to be political without being "political" here. Losing Kitt Peak's telescopes (at least the optical ones) could be bad for the economy in Arizona. We have a lot of aerospace industry here in Arizona, and having premier research facilities like Kitt being located in Arizona (and near U of A) is a big reason why.
So go and check it out (for free), and decide if it's worth keeping something like this here in Arizona.
