never going to happen on a large scale (Magic Mountain, Disney). A park in Phoenix would have to be like the one in Abu Dhabi. There is no money to build one like that in Phoenix.

None of the above.

Any theme park built in the Phoenix area would have to be a domed park, or else it won't work. That's due to the weather issues especially during the summer.

Nah, I just followed parks for a while. A lot of it stems from gaming interests the past 10 years.

I don't understand all the weather comments. As someone else pointed out, there are parks in the northern states that only operate for half the year and have done so forever. In theory, a park in this region could do the same and simply not operate for some of the hottest months. They would still end up with more open days than the parks in colder climates. The weather related reasons are way off the mark.

  • Seaworld and Busch are the same company, and both are possibly being acquired by Six Flags, last I heard.
Yes, I know SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are the same company, however, they are separate brands and concepts, which is why I listed them separately.

Because summer days are longer and the children are out of school/families on vacation. So the Phoenix season would be opposite of what is the proven money making season. The snowbirds are not the ones that will keep an amusement park open.

And the park would have to compete with the California Parks. A family would have to choose between Disney and the Beach or Phoenix and ??? (110 degrees)

Good points. I guess I didn't think about kids being out of school during what would be the off-season here.

We had legend city so your statement is false. They pretty much went under after 2 people were killed on a ride.

Surprising no one's ever built a giant park here. I remember wishing they would when I was a kid. But then again we would always just jump in a car and go to California if wanted to go to one.

Legend City's primary problem was the summer heat. People have gotten hurt or died at other theme parks around the country and they survived. But, 110 + degrees for 20 / 30 days straight (daytime) and 100 + degrees (nightime) really puts a crimp in attendence levels - as it did at Legend City.
