I lived in San Diego for 10 years, then around the Palm Springs area for 1 year prior (job-related) to coming to Phoenix 23 years ago. I liked San Diego and thought I'd return there, and was surprised when it no longer felt like home. A lot of people were heading to Arizona back then and I decided to check it out, and wound up staying. Other than the brutal summers, I like it here--though now would like to give Alaska a shot if I can ever sell my home and handle the cost of living up there (talk about extremes!). Lived in Tempe for 11 years and really liked it there, too--seems each place and each area I've lived in has something to offer.

Most people who sensed the worsening situation cashed out or left...I've watched the place change for the worst...Yet you still have hardcore folks who refuse to acknowledge any issues & there fore are part of the problem! It's futile to be around or reason with such types & the best thing to do is a tactical retreat

They must end up in Scottsdale then. That's where we Arizonans keep our fakes, our superficials and our shallows.

granted I am not a California native but what is this "worsening" California is the most populous state in the union. I personally have many friends that moved there and we grew up in the south!! Silicon Valley to San Diego some of the best schools, income levels etc. Just prime coastal real estate is expensive otherwise I think I would be perfectly fine with it. Phoenix is great don't get me wrong just don't get the California put downs

The question was apparently an open ended question what seems to be the issue? People are expressing their views about Arizona vs California<-- part of the original question ect...So is there something I am not privy to that I should know about please?

I agree with many that left a post; however, it doesn't matter where you go in life; you will find some people are friendly and outgoing; on the other hand others that are unfriendly and snobbish. I have always loved California; yet it has changed no different than many other parts of the world. Funny, I came across this post when Arizona is what I had in mind. LoL.....if you like HOT.....then Arizona should be no problem adapting to.
