Is it difficult find homes without a pool in the Glendale/Peoria area? My husband and I prefer a home without a pool. Also, is it more difficult to sell a home that does not have a pool? Thanks very much.

No & No

It's one of those preference things ... some people want one, have one .... some people don't

using google maps put in 71st ave & peoria as your intersection then zoom in low enough to view backyards ..... from there move around and "fly" over peoria & glendale ....... you'll see plenty homes with pools, plenty with out

I think you have a smaller buyer pool (no pun intended) when the house does not have a pool. Of course there are those like yourself who do not want one, but I would guess that more home-buyers want a pool than do not.

Our pool is the reason we enjoy Arizona all year long. It is a lifesaver in the heat and is great in the cool months to sit around and look at while out enjoying the great weather on the patio. We'd not spend nearly the amount of time outside if we didn't have the pool in our backyard.

I can't imagine living here without a pool.

Wild guess.......the pool could prob'ly be the deal breaker. Folks that don't want a pool won't even bother looking at homes for sale that have 'em.

Likewise.......if everything is absolutely perfect with the house but it doesn't have a cement pond.....

.....you could always put one in.

The only problem with that is it costs significantly more to put a pool in than it does to buy a house with one already in. In other words, the premium to buy a home with a pool is less than the cost to install one from scratch. We wouldn't even look at houses that didn't have pools for that very reason.

Much wiser to purchase a home with a pool already installed then to have to pay to put one in yourself. Our appraiser said our $35,000 pool would only add $6k to our appraisal.

If you are a Phoenix pool owner, you are not alone. Thirty percent of the single family homes in Phoenix have pools. Evaporation accounts for about 40 to 60 percent of pool water usage in Phoenix. Other big contributors include intentional draining, backwashing and leaks. Even splashing and carryout can be significant.

Many pool owners say they enjoy their pool the most on the day it's finished and they jump in and then on the day they sell the house.

Sure.

We did the same thing......we wanted a home with a pool.

Plenty of folks out there that absolutely don't want one though. And plenty of folks that'll buy a home with or without a pool.
