I'm moving to Phoenix from North Carolina and I was looking into living in the downtown area. I have narrowed it down to Roosevelt square and the met at 3rd. Any advice on these two places? The area? Suggestions? I prefer bars over clubs. Want to go to suns and diamondback games.

Both areas are nice. It would be an easier walk to Suns & Diamondback games from The Met at 3rd.

Roosevelt Square without question. Portland St is probably one of the best pedestrian streets in downtown, feels like an authentic downtown street with retail on the first level and little to no dead zones. There is a great park right there, a few restaurants right on the first level and a light rail station directly next to the whole block. It's really hard to beat, only other more desirable place I would think would be 44 Monroe and the upcoming Cityscape apartments.

Roosevelt Square is very nice; I've looked at it a few times. If you don't mind a short 10-15 minute walk, there's tons of bars around that especially get lively during First Fridays (an artwalk that happens every first Friday of the month).

What apts are closer than the 10-15 minute walk that I should be looking at? I'd prefer less of a walk to the bars.

I think there are bars within 10-15 minutes of either one, but perhaps more choices from the Met, which is closer to the center of downtown.

I haven't been in the Met since it was brand new, which is, if memory serves, more than 15 years ago. It looked great then, if it's been kept up well, it still is. Roosevelt Square is newer, I don't know how their amenities compare.
