Pretty sure it was 7th ave and not 7th St
Anyway it was on eastside of the street .

It had a large seating arraignments & German décor. Pretty nice as I recall.

[Servers were dressed in Alpine type costumes.
I recall being started of with crackers and cheese at the table.

They were known for healthy portions. Only went there once as a teenager.

I remember that place! Warm gingerbread comes to mind, too, when I think of it.

My name is Buddy Kidd. I went to Kachina Elementary from 1965 to 1973, and then Tavan Elementary in 74, and then moved to Texas. I lived behind the Safeway, Sprouse Reitz, Skaggs Albertsons, Leviwitz stores (4750 E. Indian School Rd ...across from Arcadia High) on Montecito street. Kachina Elementary was torn down years ago for condos, so I don't even have a pic of the school. Anyway, looking for any pics from that area...maybe even school photos or something. Thanx

Nice and quiet in Midtown Phoenix during the Great Recession. Nice and quiet during the lockdown. Other than that, it's just bad drivers and desert.

I'd rather see midtown busy & bustling. "Nice and quiet" in the middle of a big city isn't exactly normal. Many businesses have been forced to scale back their overhead, or even close for good thanks to the government imposed lockdowns which have wrecked havoc on the economy. This isn't a good sign by any means.

I moved here in 1994 bought a house at 39th ave & Dunlap area was still nice most of the neighbors were older who bought the homes new in the 1970's. I lived there till 2004 I would say most of them started to die off by 2002 and their kids all sold out to investors who rented. The neighborhood turned bad overnight it seemed we had a drive by shooting a block away the story was renters were selling drugs and a rival drug dealer shot at their house send a message to them. House went up forsale a week later in 2004 sold in 36 hours. Man who owned lot of rentals still owns it today and its a rental I look at on google maps sometimes cars parked on the dead sod I put in back in 2000. Can't Believe 20 years gone by since then.

My wife was born 1960s Phoenix Hospital she says it was torn down I'm not sure. She was raised in Maryvale 67th ave and Indian School. Her Parents moved here in 63 bought a new home John F Long tract it was a model home. She had a horse growing up in the 80's kept it at Pendergast Stables 83rd ave the man who worked at the stables who taught her how to ride a horse was 80 years old in 1980. He was a cowboy who drove cattle though Phoenix during the 1920's.

Odd story one of the Pendergast kids 2006 Karl Pendergast was killed after stealing a car from a jiffy lube 2 employees chased him down to an intersection he was stopped in traffic somehow during a fight with him he was killed. DA never charged the 2 employees twist of that was one of the employees was the brother of a co-worker of mine at the time .

Try using the search function for this thread...I don't know if there are any pictures, but plenty of talk here on Good Shepard.

Does anyone have any pictures of the Star Wars mural that used to be on the side of the Guadalupe community center?
