We are planning a trip out to Surprise over the Christmas and New Year. We will have a car. Any suggestions on any nice hotels in Surprise ?

We stayed at the holiday inn express and suites last year in Scottsdale and we really enjoyed it.

We are also looking at something for new years eve, I am interested in a hotel at new year that might have something going on at the hotel so we do not have to go out and be stuck looking for a cab. Our flight leaves the next day at 11:30am.

Windmill Suites in Surprise has good reviews as does the Holiday Inn Express since you liked that in Scottsdale. Five years ago we stayed at a Days Inn in Surprise and it wasn't anything to write home about and would chose a different property if we did it again.

Most of those types of hotels are not going to have something going on at the hotel for New Year's. They tend not to have restaurants/bars with liquor licenses on site, so that's just not what they do. For that night, you might want to check out the Renaissance in Glendale, right off the 101 by the Cardinals stadium, Westgate, et al., (not that far from Surprise) or go a little further south to the Wigwam resort. You'll be closer to the airport from either of those locations than from a motel in Surprise. But, you will of course pay more for that part of your stay.

I 2nd this option. The Westgate area will be FAR better than in the town of Surprise which is a 100% a bedroom community. About the only thing you can hope for in a Surprise hotel is a shuttle to some local bar. Westgate area will be a lot funner.

I have to 2nd the Windmill Suites. We stayed there last December. Prices were reasonable and the place was nice and clean. I cannot recall the name of the restaurant, but there is one like 100 feet away from the place that had really good food and reasonable prices. I think I may have posted something about it in an earlier post. I would definitely stay there again in the Surprise area.

Surprise is more of a residential area, you could try near arrowhead in north Glendale, close and a nice area, with hundreds of restaurants, and shopping available

Arrowhead will have some restaurants that will do something special for New Year's Eve. They aren't at hotels, though, so a bit of driving (or a cab) is still going to be required.
