A brief message was posted to their Facebook page just under 20 minutes ago:

"Tacos Atoyac will be closed indefinitely."

No elaboration. Very sad. They were only around for a few years but one of my favorite places in town. Located at 19th Ave & Glendale, I hope they were not a light rail construction casualty. Hope this is a prank. If not, RIP.

Hmm never heard of them. I feel like a lot of businesses don't last long in that area. Even the IHOP that used to be there relocated to 21st Ave&Northern and the Fresh&Easy that was on the NW corner there closed up shop as well (Well....the latter wasn't a good example I mean Fresh&Easy is closing up shop in a lot of areas in the valley).

Wow, that is bad news. One of my favorite places and will miss their fish tacos. Wonder what is up?

They always had a line out the door during lunch. Never went there at any other time so don't know what their business was like at other times of the day.

1) that I-hop is now on the third green of the El Caro GC at 21 ave & Northern. 2) There is a newish Filibertoes on Glendale, about 250 yards east of the Atoyac, which was closed the one time I tried to visit....looked kind of dirty. I walked out of another mex place touted on here at 16th and Thomas.

Still, it's not as if there's a shortage of Mexican restaurants in town. Now, if it were a Scandinavian place...

I suspect if it were a Scandinavian place we wouldn't have a thread dedicated to its closing.
