Up to 40 students in a classroom? Ugh.

Fewer teachers, more students in Gilbert classrooms | azfamily.com Phoenix

You have to think the new incoming superintendent will make some changes. Maybe as soon as they lose their A rating lol.

Important to remember not all of the Town of Gilbert gets Gilbert Schools. Some of the nicer areas are in the Chandler School District, some are in the Higley District and I think some in the Mesa District.

It's a shame what they are doing to those schools. Gilbert districts were among the few bright spots in education in AZ. I guess they are sinking to the level of the rest of them.

They are cutting classroom teachers at Highland but the football program (the BYU farm team) is unscathed.

Well of course...can't cut the football program. What are you thinking? Kids don't need to learn...just take that long shot at a professional Sports career.

Football is a money maker for high schools so that would make things worse. Better off cutting the "sports" nobody cares about like volleyball and softball, etc. Not that they should cut any sport.

Nah...cut those pesky music programs...and art. No one needs a well rounded education...just go on American Idol and wing it.

At least sports gets kids in shape and improves their self esteem and builds friendships. Studies show kids in sports are less likely to get into drugs and do better in school. Playing a dumb clarinet or trumpet does nothing for a kid lol.

Of course, unless the kid really enjoys playing a dumb clarinet or trumpet, or is a prodigy and decides to earn a living doing so. Open your mind a little bit. My kids are into sports and music. How about that?

Right but if you have to choose to cut one, cut music. Easy choice.
