I would never patronize them but I see nothing wrong with it. Taxes collected and less spent on enforcement.

If Arizona was so Libertarian and freedom loving as many conservatives in this state love to claim, this would be approved with few questions asked. These would be consenting adults having sex with consenting adults in private. This would help the economy as the city and state could collect in the resulting tax windfall that would surely happen if this was allowed.

Instead, we have a state where politicians love to talk a big game about government intrusion, freedom, and job creation, but that pesky line between church and state becomes muddled and violated always under the guise of "protecting children."

While I certainly would not visit this establishment, I have absolutely no objections to this as long as it takes place in a private setting and protection is used to ensure public health is not at risk.

Of course, with this state being run by a Republican theocracy, this will never get anywhere.

This was so well put. I agree 100%. It does seem that most claim to be Libertarian just as long as the liberties being granted align with Christian dogma. If we were truly Libertarian, "live and let live", this would be a non-issue here, as would gay marriage and marijuana decriminalization.

Ehh. I think the everyday people are for the most part libertarian. Most people I encounter are pro choice, don't care who you sleep with, what you put into your body, what church you go to or if you go to church at all and I live in an area that would be considered fiscally conservative. I don't find the overall culture to be in your face religious. Certainly nothing approaching the bible belt states. However, and I hate to paint with a broad bunch, but the legislature does seem to be overrun with religious types. Especially Mormons. I know that sounds bad but they do seem to run politics around here. I think gerrymandering, clean election laws, and general voter apathy keep these clowns in office. I know many people that are perplexed at how these people keep getting re-elected. It is also comical at the hypocrisy some of them have. I remember Brewer complaining about federal involvement in overhauling the controversial SB 1070 law yet when the voters approved a medical marijuana law she asked the feds to step in and block it. I do think there is a complete disconnect between the citizens and politicians.

yep, all you need is one key district, and it can be a small one, where one is the leader in a given governing body and is in charge of putting up/down bills and I think there's one's answer on why things lean a certain way.

And as for everything else, I think it's a follow the money thing. I think trying to make sense beyond that will make no sense and the rest is scripted reality.

Even in Amsterdam there has been decreased freedom in the trade over the past few years.

I agree it won't happen here anytime soon because of religious zealotry and it's better financially for the state to have more vices illegal. But you've a knack of late to make some issues out to be Arizona and/or conservative centric when they are, in fact, not.
I'm a feminist and a liberal (and a reader of the DailyKos for that matter). And I support regulated, legalized prostitution. A woman should have control over her own body. If she's of sound mind and that's what she wants to do with it, I don't judge. And I don't know very many other liberals who judge either. Yes, we see problems that need to be addressed. Our society's obsession with sex, especially as it relates to children and the potential abuse to women is fraught with issues. But liberals tend to include sex in the many things they are liberal about, especially compared to people who want this to be a nation of laws based on Christian teachings.

The thing I would question is the logistics of how this would work. How would this guy from Nevada operate this business? There already won't be enough hotel rooms in Phoenix during the Super Bowl. Is he going to rent houses here? Is he going to park trailers in the stadium parking lot? Is he going to send prostitutes to people? And why should he, a person who's going to take his profits back to Nevada, be the one who gets to do this? Who is going to regulate this new business? We don't have any authority in Arizona set up to license and oversee this. Medical marijuana may be legal in Arizona but that doesn't mean I'm going to be allowed to stand outside the gates of the stadium in Glendale and sell joints. Why should this guy be allowed to come here and make money off an event that is costing the people of Arizona a huge upfront investment?

Well hopefully it will be nicer than in Tijuana where they have a warehouse room with sheet dividers hanging. Unfortunately I speak from experience

I can only see something like this done with a state proposition such as medical marijuana it would take a lot of effort and time. No one from the left or right side of the AZ legislature is going to even consider it because the people who put money in their pockets don't want it. Would the voters of AZ vote for such a thing who knows maybe if someone really put a good effort to educate voters on what it would do. I see this as better then legalizing hard drugs such as drug addiction because it really doesn't have a down side like that. Some people might say oh if it was legal men would cheat on their wife more because a man has no control over his body. Seems to me if the man is happy at home it won't bother with looking else where but lot of men are not happy at home and divorce just isn't feasible due to kids, or just easier for everyone to stay together financially.

Our society's obsession with sex
The whole obsession with sex is why humans procreate so doubt that is ever going to change good luck with that. You might be able to hide it like it was done in past years but you can't change nature.
