Not very many college graduates where we live, but good income...lots of entrepreneurs I guess?
Anyone live in Tempe 85284? They are kicking butt! Score of 97!

Brighter colors = higher score
I do. Sounds about right.

The zip code we were originally dreaming of moving to is an 87 (85083, $106,335, 40%). Where we are at the moment for our first year is a 46 and it definitely shows (85205, $47,741 24% - already making more than that in my first year of employment at my dream job and my spouse isn't even working yet). Looking forward to the lease being up in March! Given where my permanent job has landed, however, it looks like we'll end up around 91 (85048, $92,895, 52%). Far from 85083 , but ultimately just as nice, it seems.

Interesting website HX Guy. I plugged in my zip and got this:

85023
Phoenix, Ariz.

Score: 53

Median household income $49,146

College graduates 29%

Of course as mentioned already, it's hard to see a more exact picture of your neighborhood because these figures are per zip code. These figures don't represent my neighborhood.

So I used esiebert7625's map and got a more realistic viewpoint as of 2010 of my neighborhood as follows:

We had a population loss between 2000 and 2010 (wow, that was surprising, but also understandable due to the recent economic downturn)

Household income: 75,000 to 99,000

High School Grads: 90% or more

Bachelor Degree: 50 to 59.9%

Thanks to both of you for some interesting information.

I'm sure there are people who work at Intel or at ASU who live in that ZIP code, but it's WAY more diverse in that sense than what you describe. There are far fewer faculty/administrators at ASU that live in Tempe than used to be the case in the past (and I was told that by one of the higher ranking administrators.) As far as Intel, I'm sure they are here, but I haven't met a one in almost 30 years in this ZIP code. Business owners, all sorts of professionals, live here. It deserves the score it got.
