Anyone have experience growing both of these? Which is better in our climate?

I like the looks of the Italian cypress and from what I read, it's more columnar (which is what I want).

I read the AZ cypress is slightly more suited to our environment.

Thank you.

The Arizona Cypress(Cupressus Arizonica) is a completely different look/size than an Italian Cypress(Cupressue Sempervirens). The Arizona is much wider(to 20') while the Italian Cypress grows 5-10' wide at maturity. The Arizona Cypress is native to Central AZ and the Italian is native to southern europe and western asia. I've tried my hand at Italian Cypress years ago and the spider mites got 4 out of the 5. I've seen some beauiful mature Italian Cypress in the valley die in one summer when the spider mites took over. You can hose off the spider mites or spray funky stuff on them but I figure why bother? Or you could get lucky and be in a place where the mites aren't very active. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the Italian Cypress given all these issues. I've even noticed some of the garden centers don't even carry Italian Cypress much anymore around the valley. I think that's telling.
