Hi, we're moving to the Phoenix area in the spring. One of the houses we're considering is in Sierra Foothills, north of Shea Blvd, between N 124th and N 127th. Our worry is how noisy is Shea in that area?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

That's a very nice area but Shea is a pretty busy road. I probably wouldn't consider the houses in that neighborhood closest to Shea, but you'd have to see just how noticeable it is. A water feature will mitigate a lot of noise.

That's a fantastic area. Shea is pretty busy and a lot of the Fountain Hills commuters utilize it to get into town. With our rubberized asphalt we have here it really mitigates road noise. I doubt there will be to terrible of a road noise issue except the occasional police siren or something. I live close to a very busy road and the only thing I ever hear is the train 5 miles away....... which you are very far from in this area.

Thanks for this. I'm coming down to house hunt soon. If I wanted to get a better idea of road noise in that stretch of Shea, what time(s) would you recommend?

It's busy most of the day. 5-8am and 3-6pm is likely the busiest.

Thanks. I'll do a little stake-out of the area.
