Anyone see one of these guys(gals) in their yard/around the valley?

Hummingbird Moths Are Hummingbird Imposters

I just saw 2 in our sweet William flower container while we were hanging out in the backyard and at first I thought it was a baby hummingbird. But based on the body shape, coloring, size, and antenna, it indeed is a moth. They sure fly like hummingbirds/had me fooled!

Yes! I thought the same thing at first and it wasn't until I Googled it that I realized they weren't small hummingbirds. I see them almost every night. They seem to like my lantana.

I have them by me in Scottsdale, on a nightly basis. They always fly in and out of this flowery bush thing by the entrance to our place. Ive tried to get pictures, but they never turn out good. Cool critters, arent they?

Thanks for this post. Just last night I saw one and was really surprised thinking it was a hummingbird. This post couldn't have been better timed. Much appreciated.
