Phoenix Community,

I am reaching out for any potential leads someone may have in terms of how I can pursue charges under Fabian's Law (HB 2137). The applicable crimes are dogs at large, dog-dog attacks, and dog-human attack.

Both City and County Prosecutor's Offices do not take charges from the public; they must be submitted by an enforcement agency. The agency in this case (Animal Control) states they do not do this, and to contact the county attorney.

If anyone has any idea how to get this going, please let me know in this thread or direct message.

Regards,

Bee TX

What is the situation? If it is a dog attack you would need to file a police report?

Community,

After further digging between government agencies, we determined Animal Control is the agency that holds the power to forward reports to the prosecutor's office for criminal charges determination.

If you or someone you know is a victim of a dog attack, please make sure the incident is reported to Animal Control. You can review the attached legislation that would apply if the dog that attacked you or your domestic animals had done it before.

HB 2137 (Fabian's Law)

Best Wishes,
