Hi guys, sorry if this has been beaten to death already, but was wondering if anyone has had experience with this.

I recently moved from my place in Scottsdale into a new place in Phoenix. Scottsdale served me with alternative service to my old address for a speeding complaint in March. I only heard about it peripherally and it was never actually delivered to me. Since I'm not living there, I'm not sure when it was delivered, and if it was before or after I updated my address with the DMV.

What do you think, is this one I can get away with ignoring since I didn't really get served?

For Scottsdale, that IS service. That's why they call it alternative. If it was before you updated your address (which by law you are supposed to do within 10 days) then their position on service is stronger. If it were me, I'd traffic school it out and be more careful in the future. Other people here will tell you the opposite.

Ignoring it will let the fees & fines pile up, and your license will be suspended, prolly without you even knowing it. You'll get pulled over for a minor offense & get a ride in a real police car.

Alternate service is just wrong, but Scottsdale can tweak your life majorly & your only recourse is to hire a lawyer at your own considerable expense, argue before a crooked court, and possibly get that fine thrown out, after you've spent a night in jail & had your car towed.

Whatever you decide, I'd do it now (fight/pay/traffic school), even though the "service" was a joke & probably unlawful..
