Hello everyone, I would like to thank you in advance for reading. My fiancee and I have decided to move to Arizona in April 2016 or 2017 at the very latest. We are from Brooklyn NY. We also have two dog and two cats. She would like to move to Tucson as she live there about 15years ago. Me personally, i dont care where as long as I can find work and live in a safe area.

Now I have done some research and it seems that Tucson has a high crime rate especially South Tucson. I also see that there are areas that are very nice and at least to me has that wow factor.

A little info about us.
Im 29 and shes in her 30s wont put her age case she comes across this lol.
I work as a concierge in a high rise at 10 an hour plus tips. She has major back issues and is unable to work.
As metioned, we have two cats (seniors) and two dogs.
Ideally, I really want to continue working in hospitality industry. Hotel, golf course dosent matter. I love what I do.
We are not into the whole nightlife going to bars and such we like to go out for walks, go to restaurants and to explore.
Ideally we would love to rent a private house 2 br 2bathrm for no more than 800 a month with utilities.
She has a license and im still working on mine. Oh right now, we pay 1150 for a 1br not including utilities. Currently, we have 6k saved and hopefully another 5k more by end of the year.

So is getting a place out there for that price possible? Do you guys have suggestions as to what areas of Tucson to live. Can i find work in a hotel/casino/gulf course etc..possible in Tucson or should we consider a different area of Arizona? I would like to keep my communite to 30 to 45 min. I currently do 90 min in nyc.

Any suggestions, questions, links to sites, any help whatsoever would truly be greatly appreciated. Thanks again and hsve a great day!

There are resorts in Tucson but you'll find more hospitality jobs in the Phoenix metro.

Renting a house in a decent (safe) neighborhood is going to be tough for $800 and impossible when you figure in utilities. Renting with four animals is going to cut a lot of places out of those that would otherwise be available.

You'll have more choices for work and places to live in Phoenix.

BTW...get your drivers license before you move here as this isn't walkable like you're used to in NYC. You need a car to get everywhere unless you want to hassle with our very limited public transportation.

Thanks so much for info. I know 4 pets makes things difficult to move quite frankly anywhere. Def plan on having license before moving

I moved here 10 years ago, If I could do it over again, I would have never moved here.
The economy here is going into the toilet, There's homeless everywhere begging on corners.
Druggies and tweakers in all the So called affordable apartments.
I pay $650 a month for a 1 bedroom with utilities furnished and it's infested with roaches and bed bugs and drug users.
I Don't know where your going to find a decent house for only $800 good luck.
Im also in Phoenix not Tucson.
Ive been searching for an apartment, that is CLEAN and BUG and TWEAKER free and all I can find is in the $900 and up range.
anything less and your slumming it here and the SLUMS are growing. I drove out to Sun City this afternoon with the idea of maybe the retirement areas would be better, But I was surprised at the amount of businesses "Restaurants and shops" that have went out of business. WTF! is going ON?

You are this unhappy here, and yet you've stayed 10 years? Methinks you exaggerate a bit. Well, I KNOW you are exaggerating about the economy being as you say. That said, the "utilities included" places are usually not the best places to be. Good luck finding something better, or perhaps a farther move out of the area should be your next choice. But remember, to borrow from a very wise poster here, whereever you go, you take yourself with you.

Some people are so full of ptooey

quoting you..

"I have NO idea what the Job market is even like nowadays, Since Ive been employed for 10 years nonstop."
"I actually Like Phoenix! I moved here 10 years ago from Cleveland,OH.
I have no real problems with it, there's alway's something to do and the weather is like Summertime all year."

The unemployment rate in Phoenix is half of what it was just 5 years ago. It's lower than the national average.

I honestly didnt even have to look for a job when I moved out here. I talked to a temp agency I had previously worked for in Utah that is a nationwide company and they found a me a position.

No offense of course, but this is unintentionally hilarious. After I moved here I never encountered any of this in years of renting at various locales, always at lower prices than this. This is either a joke or more likely, your judgement SUCKS.

This attitude qualifies as clueless and pathetic...restaurants and shops out of business what are you talking about some were 3-4 years ago, not now. Hello?
