In summer, for sure. Ive had $280 bills in summer months at times, and I wont lie, thats ridiculous. Coming from Chicago area, where we only ran the a/c maybe 3-4 weeks combined in summer, it was a hard pill to swallow. But the flipside is that we only run heat a handful of nights here in the winter, so it evens out.

And 85 at night here is on the "cool" side. Ive been out at midnight and have seen temps over 100 degrees still. Luckily we dont get too many of those nights here.

Aren't July and August normally the hottest months anywhere in the U.S.?

105 degrees is NORMAL for July 29th in Phoenix. May be hot to people elsewhere, but for here, that's not really hot. Come down here when it's 115 degrees or hotter. We cope with it like anyone else would. Lots of Gatorade and Polar Pops at Circle K.

I disagree. In the Midwest, for example, June can still be pretty "cool" most of the month as far as summer temps go. Summer doesn't actually start by the calendar until 3/4 of June is over. July and August are the hottest by far; often August being hotter than July in many areas.

That's easy. It's because it's often 100 degrees at 10:00 pm. The temperature just goes down (slowly) from there. The record "warmest low" temp was 96 degrees at 4am.
