How does not talking on a cellphone gonna help? When a bullet is travelling at you at 2,000fps, talking on a cellphone or not, youre not gonna have a chance to react anyways.

So do I which is why I would prefer not to live in Phoenix where this kind of random violence is becoming all too common. This is not the first time random shootings of people have happened here. And road rage gunplay is so common it does not even make the news anymore.

doubt it's common at all hell you're more likely to die in a car accident then you will by getting shot on the freeway. Life's too short to worry about every little thing that might kill you, and this isn't even on the radar.

Back in 1998 some friends and I all turned 21 and were driving on I-10 to downtown Phoenix to the clubs (when the Arizona Center was till happening). A car pulled up along side us on the freeway and the driver raised a gun up above the car and emptied it into the sky then sped off like a mad man. Ended up being a great night!

No, it's not. The fact that random attacks aren't common in Phoenix is exactly why you're hearing about these shootings on the news right now. Generally speaking, victims of violent crime in Phoenix tend to either know their assailant or be involved in illegal activities which put them in a position to have bad things happen. This is a pretty safe city overall, especially for its size. You can't base your impression of how often something happens by the frequency with which it's reported on the news.

There is something in the water here which is why I get the hell out of Phoenix every chance I can on the weekends. I never heard stories about so many people on a suicide mission driving the wrong way on freeways until moving here and now this as I plan on going to San Diego this weekend ? Maybe I need to cut down to Casa Grande which will add close to an hour. Regardless, there clearly are some unhappy deranged people here and the depths they will go are beyond repulsive. When you are an area of 5 million people made up of largely lower to middle class demographics, you are going to attract trash. There is a trashy element here. Not poor, trashy with no respect for human life. People who rain on the parades of happy productive Zonies. Lets be real.If the majority of us could earn the same salary in some of the smaller cities here like Prescott,Payson or even Tucson, quite sure many of us would accept that deal to escape this concrete jungle.

You are apparently unhappy here. I hope you find a place to live that better suits what you are looking for. But time to look at some facts.

On your way to enjoying San Diego/driving on CA freeways, may I suggest you google something like "CAR SHOOTINGS CALIFORNIA FREEWAYS" and look at all the recent/past cases of the shooting gallery that exists on the CA roadways and beyond. Here you go:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...ORNIA+FREEWAYS

Yikes. Makes the valley look tame in comparison.

As for wrong way drivers, you might want to google "WRONG WAY DRIVER CALIFORNIA FREEWAY" and look at the recent carnage as compared to the valley and in other parts of AZ. Here you go:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...FORNIA+FREEWAY

Yikes again.

The valley/AZ is tame in comparison to wrong way drivers out there in Southern CA/CA as a whole.

And so much for the higher/much higher salaries in CA that makes them drive in the right direction on freeways and act civilized with guns on the highway and beyond.

Enjoy your weekend "escape" to CA where "respect for human life" is so much better in regards to wrong-way drivers and car shootings as compared to the "concrete jungle" of the valley".

I have said many times Steve I love this state as we have property up north. I tolerate Phoenix due to employment reasons but to me is one of the worst areas to live after my deep exploration statewide. The air quality is amongst the worst in the country city in a bowl shaped valley trapping pollutants from 5 millon people. I see a big difference just in Fountain Hills for the better as the McDowells are a nice buffer. I love this state but no, I do not love being amongst 5 million people, many of whom are living paycheck to paycheck making them miserable for others in the road. Grateful I get the hell out of here as I do to appreciate what REAL Arizona is .

Got ya/understand.

Where we are in Goodyear in the foothills of the Estrella's, we experience the same thing in regards to air quality.

Yes, that is the nice thing about states like AZ and CA for that matter.....lots of different places where one can escape the larger population centers. And escape to a completely different climate zone with completely different scenery/temps in a relatively short drive.
